Introducing Vorion: The Governance Layer AI Agents Have Been Missing

We built an AI agent governance framework because we needed it ourselves. 20 open-source packages, 18,500+ tests, and an open standard — now available to everyone.

We started building this because we needed it ourselves.

We were deploying AI agents internally — automating operations, running multi-step workflows, letting AI make decisions. And we kept running into the same problem: nobody had built the control layer.

Every framework told us how to orchestrate agents. None told us how to govern them.

So we started building. First, just for us. A trust scoring system. An audit trail. A way to gate capabilities based on demonstrated competence. Then it became something much bigger.

What We Built

Vorion is an open-source governance framework for AI agents. It answers the question: How do you safely deploy autonomous AI agents at enterprise scale?

Here’s what’s in the box:

  • BASIS (Baseline Authority for Safe & Interoperable Systems) — an open standard for AI agent governance
  • 8-tier trust scoring (T0 Sandbox → T7 Autonomous) — agents earn autonomy through demonstrated competence
  • Cryptographic audit trail — dual-hash proof chain (SHA-256 + SHA3-256) for every agent action
  • Pre-action capability gating — trust verified BEFORE execution, not after
  • 20 npm packages, all Apache 2.0
  • 18,500+ tests passing
  • Multi-language SDKs (TypeScript, Python, Go)

How the Governance Pipeline Works

Every agent action flows through this pipeline: declare intent, evaluate against policies, verify identity, enforce the decision, record the proof, and update trust. The entire cycle completes in under 15ms.

The Core Insight

Every AI agent governance framework today operates at the I/O boundary — intercepting what agents say and do. Nobody governs what agents are.

We built the layer that does.

Why It Took a While

Governance infrastructure doesn’t get a second chance. When it breaks, agents go ungoverned. So we needed to prove it worked first:
